Natural Hypertension Supplement from Bananas
Current science and research have shown that the banana fruit and its primary active ingredient, potassium, can reduce blood pressure safely.

The FDA allows high potassium food products,to make the following labeling statement: "Diets containing foods that are good sources of potassium and low in sodium may reduce the risk of high blood pressure and stroke."

BananaLogix is the first to develop a unique and all-natural sugar-free food supplement that significantly reduces high blood pressure without the chemically induced side effects of hypertension drugs.

BananaLogix's technology is a patent-pending:

* Process of extracting the essence of the banana while balancing the correct amount of active ingredients in the extract
* Combination of synergistic natural ingredients with the banana extract
* Treatment for hypertension specifically with our banana extract

BananaLogix is currently in the process of finding the right strategic and investment partners to further develop their clinical research portfolio.

Prebiotic from wheat bran
Fugeia's Brana Vita, a wheat bran extract rich in the prebiotic compounds arabinoxylan oligosaccharides, was recently issued a letter of no objection from The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which approved its GRAS status in foods and beverages.

Arabinoxylan oligosaccharides stimulate the growth of beneficial intestinal bacteria such as bifidobacteria. The ingredient also contains ferulic acid, a polyphenol with antioxidant effect which is bound to the fiber fraction.

The prebiotic dose of the ingredient is in the same range as established prebiotics like inulin and fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS), with recommendations for these ingredients currently between five and eight grams per day.

New Vitamin D Ingredient
Lallemand Health Ingredients now offers Lalmin® Vita D, a dried inactivated whole cell yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) containing elevated levels of vitamin D. It can be used in supplements and fortified foods.

The active yeast is subjected to ultraviolet (UV) light under controlled conditions to catalyze the conversion of the natural occurring endogenous ergosterol in yeast to ergocalciferol (Vitamin D2). The yeast cream is then inactivated through pasteurization and roller dried.

This process naturally enhances the content of vitamin D in the yeast and preserves the level of vitamins, minerals and other micronutrients from yeast. Lalmin Vit D is standardised to contain 8000 IU/gram or 200 mcg/gram providing 400 IU/10 mcg in a 50-mg quantity.

Lalmin Vit D provides a natural, non-synthetic and safe form of vitamin D.

Green Coffee Extract for Weight Loss

A new meta-analysis on 3 clinical studies showed promise for green coffee extract (GCE) in weight loss. The 3 randomized trials included 142 participants and the results were termed 'promising'. GCE is derived from fresh, raw (green) coffee beans before they are roasted. It is unclear what is the exact mechanism of action but researchers postulate that GCE influences blood glucose and lipid concentrations after eating. GCE is a type of polyphenol that also exerts significant antioxidant activity.

Soy Metabolite Equol

When soy is consumed, bacterial flora in the intestines convert daidzein, a type of isoflavone, into Equol (4',7-isoflavandiol), an isoflavandiol. Individuals vary in their ability to metabolize soy into equol and as a result, to obtain the health benefits associated with soy. Equol exists in two mirror-image forms, called stereoisomers: S- equol and R-equol. S-equol is produced through the metabolism of soy by the intestinal bacteria, and is known to have a select affinity for estrogen receptor beta. R-equol must be synthesized via a chemical process and binds more weakly with a preference for estrogen receptor alpha. Both forms of equol are under development as nutraceutical and pharmacological agents. Futher investigation will focus on the treatment of a number of hormone-related conditions involving those dependent on the female hormone estrogen and related to the male hormone androgen. Initial research has uncovered a possible benefit of equol in reducing hot flashes and other symptoms of menopause.

Vitamin D-K?

When plant materials decay (D-K), humic substances are produced. Humic acids and their salts (humates) are found in the soil, sediments, coal and water. Shilajit is one example of humic material which has been used in Eastern natural medicine for centuries. Humic materials contain a wide variety of minerals and other bioactive compounds which may promote human health. Immune support and anti-viral activity are just two of their potential beneficial effects.

Like Oil & Water

Ready to drink beverages and other nutraceutical applications often require that ingredients that are water soluble. This can limit formulation options and create other difficulties. A new patented process from SoluBlend Techologies provides a low cost method for formulators of beverages (and frozen, refridgerated and baked foods) to add healthy fat soluble ingredients by converting them into water soluble lipids. Particularly useful for formulas containing omega-3 fatty acids, CoQ-10, natural vitamin E, resveratrol, phytosterols and other fat soluble ingredients.

AC-11®

AC-11® is a patented, advanced, clinically-tested bioactive compound derived from the South American herb Uncaria tomentosa (Cat’s Claw), harvested from a natural and sustainable source. AC-11® has been clinically proven systemically to reduce both oxidative damage and non-oxidative damage to DNA caused by stress, viruses or bacteria. In animal studies in which rats were exposed to known DNA-damaging sources (radiation and cytotoxic chemicals), significant repair to both single stranded and double stranded DNA breaks were observed.  Human clinical studies assessing markers of DNA damage also reported significant reductions in patients receiving 350 mg AC-11® per day compared to controls.
